Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnotherapy

How should I prepare for, and what should I expect, for my consultation?

Just like in a hypnosis session, there are steps you can take to get the most out of your consultation. A quiet place, free from distractions, is optimal. By no means is silence needed, or even close. Ambient background noise is hard to avoid entirely, and not a problem. But, letting others know that you'll need to be left undisturbed for a short while, putting pets out of the room, shutting off your phone, and minimizing distractions in general, will allow you to get the most out of your session. A comfortable place to sit, where you can see, and hear, our conversation, is ideal. Ultimately, your consultation is expected to be an enjoyable conversation. A chance for us to get to say hello, and explore expectations.

What should I expect for my hypnotherapy session?

A typical hypnotherapy treatment begins with a consultation. This allows for us to confirm that we are a good match. As well as clarifying exactly what changes will be made, any specific concerns, and our mutual expectations. The hypnosis session itself is relaxed, conversational, and easy. Most people agree that it is also fun, and leave happy, and excited, by the process. A follow up appointment is often included, and may include a re-induction. Self hypnosis instruction is seamlessly included as part of the process. Every person seen at Hamrick Hypnosis, leaves with the ability to self hypnotize, if they desire.

How effective is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a time proven modality for treating many conditions. Many research papers have established the effectiveness of hypnosis. Some conditions, traditionally viewed as "difficult", "time consuming", "requiring pharmaceuticals", "deep seated", or just "chronic", are routinely treated with hypnosis. Oftentimes in one, or two, sessions. A small sampling of examples include; smoking, phobias, weight loss, pain control, IBS, self esteem, emotional trauma, public speaking, and on it goes.  Hypnosis, simply, allows for these positive changes to happen.

 Is hypnotherapy dangerous?

Hypnosis is NOT dangerous. The only danger, associated with hypnosis to date, is possibly being aggravated you hadn't discovered it sooner.

Will I remember the experience?

Most people remember at least some part of the hypnotic experience.

Will I say or do anything embarrassing?

No. There is nothing that will be shared, or experienced, beyond your reason for being hypnotized. We treat you, and anything that happens in treatment, with the utmost respect, confidentiality, and empathy. You can let go of any concerns in this regard.

Can I get stuck or lose control?

No one has ever been "stuck" in hypnosis. Hypnosis does not take you out of control, it puts you more in control. Be excited to honestly witness the under explored power of your mind.

Can hypnosis be effective online?

Absolutely. On line hypnosis even offers it's own set of benefits. You can enjoy the hypnotic session in your own environment, and surroundings. Due to the nature of an on line session, you sit down already focused, in a familiar place. Being hypnotized from a place of your choosing, helps eliminate self imposed obstacles to healing.

Is there a religious aspect that conflicts with my beliefs?

None at all. If your belief is that a higher power has given you all that you are, than hypnosis only accentuates these inherent gifts. Hypnosis is a process, and model, that exists free standing of any religious beliefs. Yet conflicts with none. Hypnosis is simply an extremely strong tool.

I'm strong-willed, can I be hypnotized?

Absolutely! Even better. Hypnosis puts you more in control, not less. If you are willing to follow straight forward conversation, and have an honest desire for change, you will have success.
